CLT IN THE SPOTLIGHT
IN JUNJI KINDERGARTENS

Two Chilean kindergartens, "Muñequitos" (located in Cauquenes) and “Pin Pin Serafín”, (in Ovalle,) are some of the first to be built with Cross-Laminated Timber. This initiative was carried out by CORFO (Production Development Corporation) in conjunction with JUNJI (the Chilean National Board of Kindergartens) to create facilities with cross-laminated technology in order to promote this new type of construction. One of the great benefits of this type of real estate is the thermal comfort and its earthquake-safe construction.

DATA SHEET KINDERGARTEN CONSTRUCTION:

  • Year: 2020
  • Client: Corfo -JUNJI
  • Type of construction system: Mass Timber (CLT)
  • Materials: 400 m3 CLT
  • Installation Time: 60 days
  • Location: Cauquenes y Ovalle, Chile.

Patricia Norambuena, one of the architects in charge of the project, points out that "the children who attend these kindergartens will benefit the most since this construction system using CLT panels guarantees high airtightness and therefore a lower heating or cooling cost in summer. This translates into dry, pleasant environments where there are no temperature differences between the different rooms, regardless of the geographical orientation of the buildings."

Puertecillo House

This project in Puertecillo bay excellently shows the meeting of mass timber with nature in an exceptional and inspiring environment.

Cruz House

Cruz House is a project that clearly shows the many benefits of using Mass Timber and CLT. Thanks to the technology of these materials, this house was built in just two days, highlighting two essential qualities of Niuform CLT: speed and - more importantly - quality.

CMPC BUILDING, LOS ÁNGELES

The CMPC building in Los Ángeles was primarily built with CLT and GLT-based solutions and features FSC® and LEED® certification, making it a landmark in sustainable architecture.

Santa Olga Footbridge

This project began as a CMPC initiative to rebuild an area that wildfires had consumed entirely. Today the Santa Olga footbridge shows off the best of this beautiful locale thanks to wooden architecture that combines perfectly with the surrounding nature.

MSPORTHORSES Stables

These stables, designed to hold 14 jumping horses, were mainly built with laminated timber and glulam; materials that gave shape to this beautiful structure, despite its complex geometry.
